Peter Cornwell In an earlier life was the Headteacher of a small village Primary school, having been appointed at the tender age of twenty seven. During this time, he developed a great interest in writing stories and poetry, historical re-creation and storytelling. In 1996 he dreamed up the idea of History Off the Page and now heads up a team of twenty five wonderful people. |
Philip Cooke taught in a number of schools at both KS1 & KS2 before being head-hunted to join Off the Page in 2001. He quickly became a director of the company and an instrumental voice, particularly in the more creative aspects of the job. Philip has a background in visual arts and drama. He is a sensational story-teller and communicator. |
Lee Marsh escaped from the classroom and joined OTP, part-time, in 2004. He had worked in the primary sector since 1973 and, apart from class teaching, had spent time in senior management, deputy headteacher and science advisory teacher roles. He now 'manages' the Hemel Hempstead outpost as well as being a full-time team member. |
Sheena Shaw After completing a Degree in Drama and a Post Graduate year at a London Academy, Sheena embarked on work with a Theatre-in-Education Company as a writer/performer. She later trained as a Primary Teacher for
KS1 and KS2 and also works as a Drama Tutor for adults and children. She is enjoying being part of the 'hands-on' learning experience for children of all ages and abilities. |
Nancy King is a primary teacher with excellent communication skills who enjoys writing poetry, storytelling, painting and illustration. She also loves nature and the great outdoors. Nancy believes that truly valuable learning happens when children can have practical, meaningful, hands on experiences to connect them with the world around them. As W. B. Yeats said: "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire..." She loves her job with History Off The Page because it encompasses ALL her passions; history, creativity, dressing up, drama, storytelling and most of all, bringing out the best in the children she teaches. |
Alan Revill has 35 years of Primary teaching experience both KS1 and KS2 and has taught to university levels. Before joining Off the Page, he enjoyed a reputation for excellence as Head of Upware Field Studies Centre. |
Roger Yaxley has been involved in Primary education for over 35 years. He was Headteacher for 31 years, firstly as a peripatetic Head and then in three permanent Headships within Norfolk and Suffolk. He qualified as an Ofsted Inspector and has worked as a tutor for a Governor Support Unit in Norfolk as well as a Headteacher Fellow and Primary Consultant.

Liz Inkpen lives in Canterbury. She taught at the same school for 16 years while her children were growing up. Whilst there she booked an Ancient Greek Day with HOP, which her class loved. Having studied drama at Goldsmith's College, she always used roleplay whenever possible in the classroom, so HOP days provided the perfect forum for her and she joined the company the following year.
She has a busy family and social life and enjoys going to the cinema, reading, gardening, cycling and running. |
Holly Martin has a degree in primary education with English and Drama. She has worked with primary age children for several years across a range of ages. In her time as a classroom teacher, she loved teaching history, making it as interactive, hands on and fun for the children as possible. She firmly believes that great teaching and memorable learning only takes place through the children touching, tasting, smelling and living what they learn. Through role play and providing rich, interactive experiences she hopes to give children lasting, fond and educational memories of their time at school. |
Jenny Coates is interested in all aspects of history and has developed a particular passion for the Egyptian period. Before joining Off the Page, Jenny was the history, educational visits and external students coordinator and year group leader. Jenny responds to a challenge and likes holding a position of responsibility. |
