Florence Nightingale |
Explore the life and times of
Florence Nightingale with Off the Page. The one day course (for up to 60
Key Stage one pupils) includes:
Session one [before morning break]:
- Introduction-in classroom.
- Meet the character-either Florence
Nightingale or Sidney Herbert, telling the children about the life and
work of Miss Nightingale.
- Investigating and handling artefacts in
our travelling museum.
Session two [after morning break]:
- Role play: running the hospital. Activities will include: cleaning,
counselling, bandaging, making herbal remedies etc.
After lunch
- Workshops [all practical activities
relevant to the life and work of Florence Nightingale, such as making
pill boxes, lockets, prescription books, brassards]
Details of this and further information about the day are included in a booklet which is sent out prior to a booking. All the History Off the Page providers are experienced teachers and storytellers who enjoy working with large groups of children. Generally there will be a story told during the day.
