preparing for the Christmas celebrations comes to life. The date of 24th. December 1536 is used to combine historical information of the life of Henry VIII
with the way Christmas was celebrated in the medieval period.
Workshops
History Off the Page will bring
all the equipment and materials needed to set up workshops in your hall. The atmosphere will be
created by using drama and role-play, facsimile items and the sort of
materials which were used by the Tudors. The workshops often include: the
Alchemist’s apprentices, making soap balls and pomanders.
Banquet
During the afternoon session, the pupils will
experience a Tudor Christmas with a festive banquet. The banquet makes use
of many of the medieval traditions and customs unique to the Christmas
period.
Details of this and further information about the day are included in a booklet which is sent out prior to a booking. All the History Off the Page providers are experienced teachers and storytellers who enjoy working with large groups of children. Generally there will be a story told during the day.
Costumes are available to order from Off the Peg.
