History Key Stage 2 ~ A Tudor Christmas 1536


Setting

Through drama and role-play, a Tudor household preparing for the Christmas celebrations comes to life. The date of 24th. December 1536 is used to combine  historical information of the life of Henry VIII with the way Christmas was celebrated in the medieval period.

Workshops

History Off the Page will bring all the equipment and materials needed to set up workshops in your hall. The atmosphere will be created by using drama and role-play, facsimile items and the sort of materials which were used by the Tudors. The workshops often include: the Alchemist’s apprentices, making soap balls and pomanders.

Banquet

During the afternoon session, the pupils will experience a Tudor Christmas with a festive banquet. The banquet makes use of many of the medieval traditions and customs unique to the Christmas period.

Details of this and further information about the day are included in a booklet which is sent out prior to a booking. All the History Off the Page providers are experienced teachers and storytellers who enjoy working with large groups of children. Generally there will be a story told during the day.
