History Key Stage 1 ~ Victorian Domestic Life

Experience the home life of both rich and poor in Victorian times. This day is designed to support the QCA topic ‘Houses and Homes’ as well as offering a unique insight into Victorian domestic life presented in a relevant, practical and exciting way for the early years.

The day has three distinct elements:

  • Handling and learning about “the real thing” from our extensive range of museum artefacts.
  • Listening to one of five stories which have been specially written by our HOP team of teachers.  This is followed by recreating the story through role-play (with dressing up) using the contents of the suitcases.
  • A key element of Victorian life was the making of crafts at home.  The afternoon offers the children a chance to learn some authentic Victorian crafts taken from original sources.

Details of this and further information about the day are included in a booklet which is sent out prior to a booking. All the History Off the Page providers are experienced teachers and storytellers who enjoy working with large groups of children. Generally there will be a story told during the day.

Costumes are available to order from Off the Peg.
