| History Key Stage 1 ~ Victorian Domestic Life |
Experience the home life of both rich and poor in Victorian times. This day is designed to support the QCA topic ‘Houses and Homes’ as well as offering a unique insight into Victorian domestic life presented in a relevant, practical and exciting way for the early years.
The day has three distinct elements:
- Handling and learning about “the real thing” from our extensive range of museum artefacts.
- Listening to one of five stories which have been specially written by our HOP team of teachers. This is followed by recreating the story through role-play (with dressing up) using the contents of the suitcases.
- A key element of Victorian life was the making of crafts at home. The afternoon offers the children a chance to learn some authentic Victorian crafts taken from original sources.
Details of this and further information about the day are included in a booklet which is sent out prior to a booking. All the History Off the Page providers are experienced teachers and storytellers who enjoy working with large groups of children. Generally there will be a story told during the day.
Costumes are available to order from Off the Peg.
