Starting from a practical approach, Off the Page will guide your school
in new and exciting directions for the study of Geography at Key Stages
One and Two.
UNIT 1: Where on earth are we? Using the school grounds as a
resource for answering the question, ‘Where on earth are we?’ Simple
orienteering-style trails using sketch maps and photographs through to
maps and basic compass work.
UNIT 2: School grounds: Utilising this often under-used resource
for cross curricular work and different forms of play and adventure.
Designing the area to suit specific needs - such as quiet play, sensory
gardens, shade and wildlife.
In all cases clear, manageable methods will be shown and tried,
classroom organisation addressed, resources and equipment recommended.
The sessions are informal, practical and relaxed, and offer a wealth of
stimulating and exciting ideas for the specialist and non-specialist
alike.
