Designed
for small groups of highly motivated and inquiring children, our new
Victorian day promotes role-play and evidence-based investigation to
get pupils excited about history.
Morning
1st May 1851. During the morning, the children will prepare
for the afternoon classroom session. Using a round robin system each
child will visit each of the ten stations and research in order to:
-
Discover their ‘identity’ from the census returns
-
Find out about street life in Stepney at the time
-
Find out about Brook Street School
-
Learn about the exhibition
-
Work with artefacts from the travelling museum
Afternoon
History off the Page will bring all the materials needed to recreate a
Victorian classroom in the hall. The atmosphere will be created by
darkening the room and using an oil lamp for light.
